Accenture chiefs say they heard what their Washington-area employees wanted: Metro accessibility, technology for work on-the-go, a collaborative environment, comfort. This is what some 4,000 Accenture staff now enjoy on 100,000 square feet across three floors at The JBG Cos.' 800 North Glebe Road.
The office perk is a thing of the past, replaced with day lockers (each with its own charging station) and long, open desks. Meeting rooms large and small are reserved through the Room Wizard service. Treadmills that move no faster than 2 mph offer an exercise opportunity during long conference calls. Teleconferencing cuts travel expenses.Click here to see the dozen pictures of this "office of the future."
A couple of points:
- At 100,000 GSF for 4,000 employees, Accenture's headquarters offers employees only 250 GSF per employee vice the 300 GSF the RTF is using as a planning number.
- The space is highly focused on connection via the Internet, including teleconferencing and, we suspect, telecommuting.
