Virginia county and state officials have written a letter saying they won’t pay the additional costs of building an underground station at Dulles Airport as part of the multi-billion-dollar Metrorail extension there, according to The Examiner..
Last week, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which is overseeing the project, approved the controversial underground station, which would be closer to the airport’s terminals, but would cost $330 million more than an above-ground option.
State and local authorities, who will pay for much of the project, have long supported the option of an above-ground station. . . .
