If there's one RCA committee that you already know, it's probably the Reston 2020 Committee. Perhaps you've seen an article detailing 2020's latest project, or you've heard a 2020 member speak at a community hearing or task force meeting, or you've checked out the 2020 blog, or you've read one of Terry Maynard's detailed and impressive reports outlining a vision for the development along the Toll Road.
In the last couple of years, 2020 has established itself as a strong and respected citizen voice, fighting to ensure that planning and development in Reston takes the needs and desires of Restonians into account. In case you're not familiar with 2020's work, read on and find out what this RCA committee is doing to improve Reston's quality of life.Click here for the rest of this article.
Personal Note: Colin gives me far more credit than I deserve for the accomplishments of RCA's Reston 2020 Committee. Literally scores of citizens have contributed to the more than 20 research papers Reston 2020 has published (and are available on this blog) whether it was idea generation, meeting participation, drafting, or speaking up in Reston Task Force or other meetings. In fact, it is vitally important than Restonians of all ages, perspectives, and experiences continue to contribute to the effort if we are to make Reston a better place to live, work, and play.
