Controversial Zoning Ordinance amendment likely to resurface in 2016
Seven Corners could be a magnet for developers.
The Board of Supervisors has put off indefinitely consideration of a controversial Zoning Ordinance amendment that would facilitate new high-density projects in certain redevelopment areas – but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. The proposed amendment on planned residential mixed use (PRM), planned commercial district (PDC), and commercial revitalization districts (CRD) had been delayed several times and was most recently scheduled for the Oct. 6 BoS meeting. Plans were also dropped to consider the matter at the board’s Revitalization Committee Oct. 13.
When asked why the matter is not being considered, Fairfax County zoning officials Donna Pesto wrote in an email, “I have no additional information regarding the scheduling of his amendment or why it was removed from the agenda.” . . . .

Controversial Zoning Ordinance amendment likely to resurface in 2016
This is a cross-post from the Annandale VA, another citizen operated, community focused blog. The zoning ordinance discussed in this article would raise allowable densities as high as FAR 5.5 around all the County's transit station areas (including Reston's three Metrorail stops), Community
Business Districts, Commercial Revitalization Districts, and Commercial
Revitalization Areas across the County.
These include Baileys Crossroads, Seven Corners, McLean, Merrifield,
Lake Anne (yes!), Annandale,
Springfield, and most of the Richmond Highway area.
