WMATA survey re Silver Line use--for SmartTrip users only???

Earlier today, WMATA sent a survey to Metro users by e-mail about Silver Line use once it opens.  Here is the e-mail as received by one Reston 2020 member:

Subject: Rail Research

Dear Metro Customer:

Will you be using the Silver Line once it opens? If you think you might, we need your help! We have been asked by the Federal Government to assess usage of the Silver Line once it opens. The survey link below takes you to a very brief survey about how you may use the Silver Line in the future. If you are not sure where the Silver Line is, open the survey and take a look at the map (its right at the beginning of the survey).

Follow this link to the Survey:

Thanks for your help and, as always, thanks for riding Metro.

Unfortunately, it appears that those who did not receive the e-mail can not access the survey.

Since the recipients of the e-mail are already regular bus or rail transit riders and bus riders will see their rides cut short at Wiehle Station when the Silver Line opens, it is extremely likely that they will take the new rail line.  Some possible exceptions may be those bus riders who will not have direct access to the Pentagon and Crystal City when rail arrives at Wiehle.  They will have to transfer at the crowded Rosslyn station, adding time to their commute.

On the other hand, the selective collection process eliminates the potential of a whole new class of transit riders who now drive, but may find it speedier and more economical to take the Silver Line when it opens.

Since WMATA has not provided any public information, it is difficult to discern the purpose or value of this survey.
