This schedule is not set in concrete. For example, sometime between the last Task Force (TF)meeting in 2009 and the first meeting in 2010, the topics of the two January meetings were switched. There was no widespread notification of this important switch! Citizens such as me learned of it the day before when we saw the Agenda.
ReplyDeleteThis could have been a crippling blow to any member of the public who arrived prepared for the wrong topic. I believe the reason there was no response is that for the community, the switch was perceived as a benefit: the "Community" meeting was now to occur first, which lengthens by two weeks the potential meeting time for community input groups, should the TF appoint them. HOWEVER: what was formerly advertised as a 'Community Workshop' had become an "Informational Meeting." Yet another introduction!
When community input groups were discussed, any decision was delayed, and the proposition was delegated to Patti Nicoson and Heidi Merkel, for them to frame. When will the public hear the result? Before the next meeting?? These delays are murderous. They kill community participation.... It's been several years and now it still keeps stringing out, a month or two weeks or a week at a time, and always in a timeframe which is unknown.
